Red Cherry Shrimps

Red Cherry Shrimp History

The Red Cherry Shrimp is the red color variation of the wild Neocaridina heteropoda. This color variation was originally bred in Germany and started to appear in The United States in the late 1990's

Red Cherry Shrimp Care

The Cherry Red Shrimp is an undemanding shrimp in its care requirements. They should be kept in a well established aquarium with no predators. The most important factor for water parameter is stability and as long as none of the water parameters are in the extremes Red Cherry Shrimp should be happy and healthy.

Red Cherry Shrimp Diet

The Red Cherry Shrimp is an Omnivore. They are decent algae eaters and if sufficient algae is not present foods intended for aquarium fish and invertebrates can be used to supplement their diet. Another great supplement is blanched (boiled until soft) vegetables

Red Cherry Shrimp Breeding

If a male and a female are present in a well cared for aquarium, the Cherry Shrimp will breed. Females are larger and much more colorful, males are smaller and display a clear coloration with red spots. When the female is mature she will often times display a saddle (as seen in the insert). The saddle is the eggs developing in the females ovaries.

Red Cherry Shrimp Behavior

Red Cherry Shrimp a very non-aggressive. They spend most of the day grazing on plants, gravel and any other tank decorations for algae and other types of foods. Red Cherry Shrimp will get along very will with any other type of dwarf shrimp that is non-aggressive. When the Red Cherry Shrimp is kept in an aquarium that has no predators they are very active and only hide after molting (shedding exoskeleton to enable growth).

Special Notes

As with all aquatic invertebrates it is important to make sure copper does not get into the aquarium. Copper is toxic to all Dwarf Shrimp. Many medications contain elevated levels of copper, so it is recommended not to medicate an aquarium with Dwarf Shrimp in it.

guppies care

1.. A pH of 7.2 in moderate hardness is just perfect water condition for them.

2. The advantage in keeping the fry in small containers is that they can easily find food for themselves without using up much energy. If you have reached about 60 fry, it's time to breed them separately in 10 gallon containers.

3. Feeding your newly born fry with young salt water shrimp every day until they reach at 4 months old is very essential for their growth.

4. All the essentials and the pick of almost all best breeders are inside the box filters. To do this, you will only need a layer of polyester cotton along with few marbles or gravel. I prefer using dolomite gravel as a good water buffer. You can easily find dolomite in most pet stores which sells brine fish. Oyster is also a good substitute to dolomite. Other equally good type filters are sponge filters, provided they are used appropriately. Make sure that sponge filters are rinsed thoroughly without destroying all living bacteria.

5. As to water changes, a 30-50% weekly change required for healthy growth and size.

6. To keep you fancy guppies, you need not feed them every minute; they can survive with periodic feeding. The main cause of death among tropical fish is overfeeding. The best foods you can give to your guppies are tiny pinches of crushed flake food in good quality which should be given at least every hour.

7. Take note to maintain temperatures between 76 and 82 degrees for your breeders and fry while older guppies can live between 72 to 76 degrees.

neon tetra care

NEON TETRA CARE

Neon tetra is one of the popular aquarium fishes.Whenever you go to aquarium shop you eye may stuck up on aquarium having lots of small blue , red horizontal striped fishes.Which are looking extremely beautiful in group. With the change of angle of view you will find that their color also changes which is one of the reason of popularity of neon tetras. They have horizontal blue strip running from nose to the base of adipose fin and red strip running from middle of the body to the base of caudal fin. These fish are completely transparent except of these markings.During night these strips become silver by the time fish rest and become coloured again in the morning again. These are cheap and easily available.

Neon tetras are shoaling species and you should put them in a group of 10 or more. The more bigger is the group the more beauty it will add to your aquarium. These fishes will add activity and color to your tank.Don't add 1-2 because they may feel threatened and nervous and may loose their color. These fishes loves plant allot and like to hide under their leaves whenever feel threatened. So add lots of live plants and hiding spots.Don't put them with large fishes or aggressive fishes like angel or other otherwise they will eat them or bully them. These are peaceful and can live with other fishes of same size. They love nitrate free water change 25 % of water once in a week.
